BOSTON PUBLIC GARDEN

The Public Garden was created in 1837, the Public Garden is decorative and flowery. During the warmer seasons, the pond is home of one or more swans and is always the site of the Swan Boats, a famous Boston tourist attraction, which began operating in 1877.

Winged Victory of Samothrace

The Winged Victory of Samothrace is a statue depicting the Greek Goddess, Nike. It was discovered in 1863 and was created to honor the goddess and a sea battle. It conveys a sense of action and triumph as well as portraying artful flowing drapery through its features which the Greeks considered ideal beauty.

The statue is located inside the Museé de Louvre in Paris up a grand marble staircase. It’s absolutely beautiful!

ARC DE TRIOMPHE

The Arc de Triomphe  stands in the centre of the Place Charles de Gaulle at the  Champs-Élysées. This monument honors those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars, with the names of all French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces.

MACARONS

My final stop in Paris was to Angelina Tearoom to treat myself to some delicious Parisian desserts before boarding a plane back to Boston. I walked by this place on my first day through the Jardin de Tuilleries and planned to go back without knowing that this was often frequented by Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel! It was fantastic and turned me on to knowing a good macaron.

My birthday is coming up and I am hoping to get to New York City where they have just opened a Laduree, famous for their macarons. I’m going with a French inspired birthday and I can’t wait!

FENS FIRE

The Fens, is a park and urban wild area that serves as a link in the Emerald Necklace park system, the Fens gives its name to the Fenway-Kenmore neighborhood, and Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. This area is my workplace and my home, where I walk everyday. The area is inundated with animals including geese, wild turkeys, fox, turtles and skunks. I’ve seen more animals up close on the Fens than I did growing up in the country!

Last week my beloved Fens caught ablaze, the second time this has happened since moving here. It always breaks my heart because it affects the animals living there. The good thing is it grows back! There is no footage of this years fire, but this happened last year as well and I found some amazing footage. Check it out!
